I lost track too, but I'm pretty sure you had to get him 99 bottles, although it seemed like more with all the running back and forth and getting sunk within sight of Padres del Fuego. You didn't have to get them all one at a time, but that's of little comfort when you get blown up on the way back half the time (at least you don't lose the quest items when you get sunk - just your plunder).\
If you think this one is frustrating, wait til you get to the grenade quest!!! You'll be wanting some of that rum for yourself
