If your the techie curious type that doesnt mind some troubles and tribulations along the way and have patience and the resources to address them then id say go for it.
However I do not want a volume of members to take such a venture lightly.
Having worked in the technical support field for 20 yrs, one of the most common mistakes are novice/basic computer users attempting advanced user alternatives like beta/rc operating systems, and applications. Usually due to them playing some game, and catching wind of such ideas from the more advanced users on their favorite gaming site. Almost always generating a need for assistance with something that already has limited support resources because its new. Just not something I would recommend for most. And if its your parents PC something you DEFINATELY must clear with them first.
