Yes, many have used these methods to score that much and more rep. With a 50% crew bonus you can earn up to 900 reps on one enemy (all weapons but cannon/sailing), if you can get in enough attacks. Seen many screens showing these huge rep rewards. Old tricks being learned by new pirates.. good stuff.
