In this case though - Toontown and WoW are geared towards two totally seperate players - the competition is different (I know WoW players - and most 20 something guys don't care about Toontown).
But in this case - its is all about marketing. POTCO and POTBS are going for the same players - first one out wins (may not be a win... but in marketing its how you play).
It won't matter now anyway. Two years later the release, the target market, the economy - have all changed. Now and for some time I think we're going to see what was really the intent of the games direction.
