I was in a similar position awhile back. My old guild was slowly becoming inactive but I'd been with it so long it was hard to leave. At the time I wanted to take my main pirate, Maria, out of the guild and put her in another one. So I made a second pirate, Juliana and left her in my old guild. This way I could check in on it every so often to see if anyone was on. Not soon after another friend asked if I wanted to put Juliana in her guild, Black Bart's Krewe. My old guild was done and I had to finally accept it. So I left my old guild and brought Juliana (must have been around lvl 7 at the time) over. I have to say, it was the best decision I ever could have made. Near 5 months later I am still with BBK, I've brought Maria over, Juliana is now my main pirate and I'm about to finally master her!
So I guess my point is this; if you really feel the guild could be revived.. try making another pirate to put in and hold your spot. But if you don't think there's a real chance of it coming back, you may want to start looking for a new guild. A guild is about having fun, making friends, enjoying the game, and so much more. If your not getting that from your current guild than it really isn't a guild anymore. If you do decide to start looking for a new guild, check out forums. I'm sure you'll find one to your liking.
