I think they need to expand the basic access just a little. Really though, the game's not that bad when you get right down to it.
And at least you actually have something to do in it. Back at Club Penguin, all you can do is waddle around and chat. No leveling up (well, except for the ninjas which goes by really fast), no quests (except at certain RARE occasions), and no fighting.
I personally think they need to focus more on fixing all the glitches, especially in the Mac version of the game.
That game is pretty buggy, under certain circumstances. XD
