This is where I stopped reading, simply because there's no supporting evidence what-so-ever to say that getting too close disrupts them.
If Captain Walter can have a group of fifty pirates bunching up around him so can Constance. Knocking people out is roll playing, and being knocked out when walking into the house is part of the event. It doesn't mean it's against the rules, and if the GMs don't say, "It's against the rules to come in this house", then it's not. Besides, the house is part of the game, so it shouldn't be against the rules to go to a certain spot.
The GMs don't knock you out because you go against the rules, they knocked you out because it's for roll playing.
