<Disclaimer and Spoiler Alert: I am going to wax a little misty in the following - nothing to make you think I'm going all Perry Como for Christmas - but enough to force a pause in contemplation of my persisting sanity.>
The one thing that is really making this a very special Christmas season is that I really don't WANT for anything. I have a great family, who is all blessed with good health. I have a job that I don't completely despise. Financially things are good. My favorite college football team did better this year than I had expected (going to a bowl game). So, I think it would be tempting Karma to want for anything else.
I have liked some of the ideas in this thread, such as being able to purchase increased wardrobe space (a la the barrels for ammo to increase capacity).
Also like the idea of being able to acquire / buy / earn a guild identifier (bandana, badge, etc). That would be cool.
There are tons of things that I am looking forward to seeing, when the time comes (like customized ships, new story chapters, treasure maps).
But, far be it from me to waive a red cape in the face of Fate. No chance, not this pirate.
What if you could have Jimmy Buffet as your background music? Or Bob Marley?
