I play, and love my avatar, and my friends are incredible. (Adult player here, with Thomas, whos also an adult - obviously! LOL) But, since we started a new MMO where there are MANY pirates moving to - I see why D is losing customers - huge maps, WAY more quests, more things to accomplish, more skill involved = less button mashing. Its just a better game - indeed its been around longer, but they have had several expansions, they offer players gifts on toon birthdays - special events - inventory system.
AND we found that the new game is many MANY adults, and many more openly polite players - just standing around at a main city going through inventory netted us several 'unsolicited' weapon and item gifts from higher level players. They come over, and initiate a trade to GIFT you items you can use that are better quality than anything available at your level, or worth more gold to sell. Just to be kind. Guild halls, PVP, great avatars and emotes.
After seeing this, I DO believe D is at risk of Pirates bottoming out if they dont do something soon. We already decided to let our memberships go in April when renewal comes around. =( There is simply NOTHING to do, and the game is filled with childish, rude kids, and unfortunately many childish adults. Sad to say, the GM's several times have 'quashed' the Kracken in game, saying it doesnt, and wont exist and it was simply a rumor.
I think a new quest will come - run to X, go to Y, come back to X, go back to Y, go to Z go back to X, kill 8 crabs, kill 8 scorpions, kill 8 navy, sink 8 ships, go back to X, get points or item you can't fit into inventory anyways, or money you have nothing to spend on. YAWN. No thanks D.
