the current speeds are fun as in game play, but have no significant points for it. Here are some points on why I'd prefer it to be slower :
*This virtual Caribbean in the game is very unrealistic and nothing accurate to the real Caribbean. It is neither big nor real. Keeping in mind that we have fast speeds in a very limited area against enemy ships crawling almost everywhere, going in circles ( again unrealistic ), there's no need for such fast speeds. I'd understand if they make a real Caribbean, or at least make it 100 times its current size.
* The speeds are very unrealistic compared to real sailing boats of that time. My friend Bartholomew Foulsteel pointed out that speeds of about 7 knots were achieved with ships like these. It would only be a motor or other accommodations to make ships go at such high speeds. I really do not mind having such high speeds, as long as it is not a natural condition for all ships we have. The normal max speed should be 7, minimum being 0 or 3. With an addition of Ship Customization, such speeds should be only produced then, meaning - an addition of a magical figurehead, specific speed booster sails, oars, windcatcher rank 5, full sail/ramming speed - as conditions for making ships attain max speeds of 15 knots.
My views are only at making the game more realistic but at the same time keeping current enjoyments. I'm sure many of you who would ponder over this would have to agree with me
