Ok, lot to cover here, bear with me.

It looks like only F1, F2, F3 and F4 are selectable. A pirate won't be limited to only 4 weapons - you will only be able to Load those first four "F Slots". I take that to mean that a pirate will always carry Grenades and Staff (sorry about the Nades Sarah).

I believe you hit the nail on the head there Kid. However, the news says new cutlasses, Staves (their word not mine.), pistols and daggers. It does not say dolls. So I'm thinking the weapons we pick from will be just those 4. Which certainly mixes things up rather a lot. (And yet looking back it does have pictures of multiple dolls but no staff, so maybe you are right.)

Does that mean that I have to know in advance the proper range for the roll? And why does the card say, attack skill 51? I thought that the news said we were limited to 35? Or is it that there will be way more skills than what we are even allowed to own?

I had to go back and look at this myself. Actually it doesn't say attack skill 51, it says, Attack:51 At the bottom it says Parry Boost + 1 Brawl Boost + 1. It also doesn't say we can hold 35 skills, but 35 weapons. I take that to mean that the Attack:51 refers to the power of the attack, not what the skill is.
Now the clothing, jewelry and ink. It says 42 clothing items, not 24 outfits. (Sorry Bas.) It remains to be seen if like now quest items will not count. If they do I'll be ticked then. If they do then there actually isn't clothing expansion at all. We'll see. No, real pirates would have considered packing 42 clothing items ridiculous. 40 jewelry, probable. Hey,
pirate! What good is all this plundering jewels if I can't wear em? At least that would be my guess on pirate philosophy.
Then there's this. It says you can hold 42 potions. Not tonics, potions. Might there be now potions set aside for reviving? Possibly something we can use to negatively effect enemies? How cool would that be! (Just a hopeful guess, but it would be sweet.)
Another thought, check out the screenie. It has a picture for the cards. Cards have never had a section in the inventory so far as I know. Could this mean that now we'll get to see what cards we have rather than having to sit down at a table and cheat to figure it out?
On the gold cap raise. It means nothing to me, she of the 32 (usually broke) pirates. However, I do think there is a reason for the cap raise. I don't think they just did it. I think if not with this update, then there will be something added soon to spend that gold on. Otherwise why bother?

When I first started playing potc way back in Jan. of 08 I was not able to get the Voodoo Doll due to being Basic, now it seems to me that POTC caters to them more then it's long time Unlimited members. Just a thought!
I hope these new items come to the test soon!

Yes, basic members can now get a doll, but not dagger, nades, or staff. I myself have both basic and unlimited players. No, my basic's don't pay. But I'm not the only pirate out here with both basic and unlimited IDs. As for catering to Basics, I don't really think so. Yes, it says both basic and unlimited players can collect the items. It
also says basic members can only equip basic items, that rarer items can only be equipped by unlimited access. So, the basics will get the drops, but just not be able to do anything with them. By giving basic members the ability to even collect rare drops they are hoping said members will stare at those rare items they can't use and bite it and pay. It's a business. Like someone on another thread said, basic is a free trial with no time limit. That's all.
Anyway, that's just some thoughts for the morning.
