The "Caves" are now tunnels in the ground. Like an anthill.

Something like flowing with the stream, falling down the waterfall, climbing up the tree, entering tree undergrowth (in one place like Minertown, they can put an abandoned mining area underneath the forest, entry through tree undergrowth), ravines with bridges, more tree based enemies (that is, for new island forests) and the other hundred things we could suggest.
I like your thinking!!! Stumps could now have the power to shoot roots! Ravines to hide in! Little barricades that slow enemy progress towards you! So many things! Little gold nougats that you could dig up. Trees that you can make into forts. (That would be fun.) Perhaps new pirate lairs! Personally I'd like some open trade. Maybe even start your own smuggling town. After all, buccaneers were originally illegal settlers on Spanish islands. You never know.
