The code is redeemable by basic members. But the potion added to the basic member's potion inventory cannot be used, until that pirate account goes unlimited.
When they do another "free unlimited weekend" there will be a lot of farting going on. I can picture kids showing their parents the benefits of "unlimited access" now - I'm sure that will make the money just pour right in.
