I agree with you entirely. It's all playing style. I have sunk juggernauts with nothing but broadsides from my light sloop.
Of course, if you prefer to outlast your enemy, then the war galleon is probably best. If you want to try to run over your enemies, then by all means, choose the frigate. I'd choose a war sloop any day.
