Mission 35 ~ Mother Marina

The group of pirates, the instructor, and you crouch down on the side of a small, wooden cottage beneath a window, hidden by the night and only lead by the moonlight. You circle up in a group, where the instructor unveils a small, black pistol. "You all stand guard while I finish it.." he shushed you all. He stepped up on a nearby box, still crouched, and slid himself over the sill of the window.

It was silence. The waves preciously crawl themselves up the nearby beach. The bells of pirate ships far off clanked at high pitches in the bay. It was nearly the first time you'd seen Tortuga so remotely quiet. Something wasn't right.

Suddenly, you heard a loud crash of glass bowls erupting in to pieces from inside the cottage. At first, nobody seemed to move. They were unsure whether to let everything run its course, or head in and involve themselves in the transpiring affairs that unraveled near them. However, a loud, painful scream rang out - the scream of a man - instantly causing the pirates to draw their swords and dagger and break around the corner, towards the wooden door.

And then another scream burst itself in to the air. This one, unfortunately, came from right behind you, throwing your feet off balance. You turned to face what had happened as you lay on the ground, and there, you watched in horror as one of the pirates slumped himself against the side of the cottage - a dagger flung right in to his leg. The blood massed itself in a thick puddle, and you crawled away before it could touch your foot.

Out of the corner of your eye, you see one, two, three shadowed figures run clumsily out of the bushes from across the bay. You turned to see three pirates, wielding terribly rusted blades, in an all-out sprint towards the group of pirates. You fiddle to grab your sword, which you fumbled out of your hands when you fell. Before you even had a chance to sit up and grab it's hilt, the pirates were a you, one's blade crossing your throat.

Another commotion came from inside the cottage, and merely seconds later, the door flung dramatically open, followed by a man's beaten body. It was the instructor, his body cut and bleeding, his face bruised, and his clothes torn as he gribbed his knee - which had hit the ground before anything - in sheer pain. Out from the lit cottage walked a man, decorated in a vivid blue jacket, a colorful shirt, and a wide brimmed hat. He stared at the instructor for a minute, then turned to face you, to then be caught in shock which radiated from his face.

It was Lawrence.

"What in Calypso's name are you doin' here?!" He jumped down from the steps and pushed the pirate with the looming cutlass aside, helping you up. He made a sweeping gesture with his hand - the same the ring sat on - which caused for his group of body guards to walked off from the scene.

"Hmpf, I guess you can call this a pleasant surprise - well, unpleasant in the fact you were helping that bum kill me. But no matter. I got what I needed to know."

Objective: After "persuading" the Instructor to tell him what he knew about the ring, Lawrence learned the ring was often worn by none other than Madame Darkskull herself. Speak with her.
