That's what a lot of people do when they switch from one guild to another due to inactivity. That could still be made easier by having the ability to transfer GM status to another member of the guild.

A GM less guild can work, but it's very difficult. What Sarah was referring to, and what you are referring to are two different situations. In one situation, the GM has already been gone for a while, with no way to be contacted. In the other situation, you haven't left (broke off communication), they're trying to prevent you from doing so.

I don't have a problem with chat, but I can see why others do. It's okay to ask for help, but even if you're in a guild, the GM's only reason for playing isn't to walk you through each and every quest in the game. Just as the member asking for help is doing, GM's have quests of their own to do, leveling of their own to do, and sometimes need time alone.
