Variety of broadside guns, armor etc. but they are pre-made catalog types. The Warlord probably has Firebrand or Explosive broadsides, and you pay for that.

Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if the dev team decided to offer new ships in lieu of ship customization, with all the bugs/glitches that could be introduced with things like cannon placement, etc. I'm guessing they'll throw in the ability to submit your own name for a ship when the new ships are released proper. Hopefully the wait won't be too long
