Both of those are bound to happen. The update time isn't an issue.. but every update they add brings in more lag.

Well, what I meant is, I wonder if we have to finish the quest in order to use the blades (at least off of the island).
The quest says that we take one of his blades near the end, then (around 7 tasks later) says we take El Patron's lost treasure. Nothing would really stop me from getting the blade, then ignoring the rest of the quest. It's not really important, but if the quest is introducing these weapons (among other things), we should at least be required to finish it.
