The attack doesnt really matter for sword, only for firearms.
I used my pirate blade ith 22 attack, did a few combos, and the average damage for thrust was 1100, used seven seas cutlass with 80 attack and got an average of 1200 attack... seven seas has 80 attack .. 80/22 = about 4 times... but 1200 attack is not 4 times the amount of 1100...
