Leeches
I had a lvl 23 leech onto my ship last night. Was an unlimited member and not just a n00b. He was not in my guild or on my freinds list. I think he targeted me while I was out to sea. I was not in a dangerous area and he didn't cause problems but still, it was my ship and I could do nothing about it. (not like a could maroon him and nothing I could do would kill him as he outleveled me big time. Only lvl 14 here.)
There are way too many loopholes to get on a ship. When I invite a person to my crew, that does not mean I invite all of that persons freinds and guild mates too. But since they can teleport to him then that is what can happen.
It is my opinion that you MUST be on the crew in order to stand on the deck. If you try to go to someone on a ship and you are not on the crew, then you will not be able to go. You should get a message that you cannot teleport unless you are on the crew.
If it is your friend or guild mate and your crew, you will have to take the extra step to add them to your crew so they can get to you. If you are on someone elses crew, your friend will have to wait until you port so they can teleport to you on land and then the captain can invite them to the crew only if he/she wants to.
The walk the plank option sounds good at first, but it can be abused. What happens if a captain invites a crew, goes out at padres and fills up the cargo hold, then kicks everyone off the ship when they have like 5 or 6 royals and keeps all the loot. Not fair to the crew that helped make it happen.
For any bad crew members that you decide you don't want on your ship anymore, I feel you should need to port to remove them from the crew. Once removed, they will be unable to get back on your ship no matter what. They will get the normal share of the booty for that trip, but you did invite them and it is only 1 trip. No big deal.
I do like the brig option. Maybe make the captain have the option to send a crew member to the brig. Say you invite someone that does their best to engage as many war ships as possible and won't listen to your rules. Instead of having to port right then to get rid of them, you send them to the brig in your ship. They stay there for the rest of the voyage and cannot do any more harm while you and the rest of the crew continue to fight. When you port, he gets his full share of the take (to keep captains from abusing this to get more gold by sending the whole crew to the brig before porting). Then you can remove the person from your crew back in port and get back to sailing.
