I tried this...it didnt work for me. This is what I did.
I made sure it was a flag ship. I attacked it. Grappled the ship and when it came time to board I did not click board but walked over to my ships wheel and sailed away. When it sunk I showed nothing for loot from that ship.
I will have to try it on another type and see.
