would you give me the number of your credit card? your bank account number?
no?
why not? you know just as much about me as you do those people willing and able to take this same info and give you some in game gold in exchange or that leveled up toon. They turn around and use your CC info to buy accounts in this and other games to farm more gold with. When you find an extra charge on your card you report it. So the game company then has to pay fines and fees and reverse charges. Using paypal may keep your CC safe but if you bought a leveled up avatar guess what? they know the log info no matter what they tell you. Most games will give control back to the orignal creater of that account, not you.
They could at a moments notice, take it back from you. Wipe out your in game items, your guild bank, ( if you game has one) then toss it back to you. Leaving you holding the bag.
In the mean time you are feeding the jackals out there. If people like you continue to feel that this is harming no one, except those who do not wish or can't afford to spend money on in game coin or avatars, your very wrong.
it is costing the gaming company tens of thousand of dollars in reverse charges and lost gaming revenue for accounts they have to cancel. It is costing your credit card companies as well.
when you annual fees for your credit cards go up or the monthy costs of your games go up, who's to blame?
the in game farming of gold and buying of pre leveled up toons is a very bad cycle.
it will only continue if people feel it is harming no one.
it hurts everyone else playing the game and you as well. if you have ever played a game where they run rampent you would understand. They own the game, not the players. There is no mob or item that is safe, they get it first and for cash will sell it to you. Getting lovely spam messages like this " yes, yes, you buy coin, you get pretty item, good armor weloveyoulongtime".
Honestly its a nightmare.
also I sorry if this sounded like a slam on you, it wasn't meant to be, so please do not take it that way. It does concern me when people in general feel that gold farmers cause no harm. I forgot to mention the keystroke programs most have embedded on their sites that they sneak onto anyone's system they can.
I could see Disney doing some sort of external exchange type service. That might work, but again, if real money exchanges hands I would worry.
