Open Waters
Dear Diary,
As I sail onward towards the unknown of what the world holds for the remaining 7, I can’t help but wonder why I wasn’t killed in the raid of our ship, a little over a week ago. Why wasn’t it me who was put out of his misery? Why were the others so lucky? I’ve had thoughts of just giving up. Rowing myself out and letting the crew be unburdened by me. it’s been a thought stuck in my mind for weeks. Now I know it must be done. Although I would be fine with leaving now, I would rather wait until port for my departure. It is only fair that these pirates of a once beautiful ship deserve better. The masts of the old Soul are fallen and burned. Only two remain standing, guiding our way to a place where we hope to find food, shelter, and rum. Oh, the taste of rum and how I miss it. I have gone on vittles for ne’er five days now. I’m becoming deprived.
I’ve been told that I have a memory better than most. Especially for one who drinks as much as I do. A man like me needs to forget the things he has done. I just can’t. I’ve done horrible things. I have the blood of more than twenty of my own crew and the captain being dead, it is hard for me to just forget these things. The support of my crew has helped me through these things.
James O’Malley, a scottish descendant of the famous viking Fergus O’Malley, was a true pirate. Never met an obstacle he couldn’t overcome. I am truly grateful for him.
Sven Martin, a newer swabby who just got out of the EITC’s newest project. He may be new, but the information he holds is crucial to our next swing at the Trading Company.
Brownfoote, that be a true pirate! With a bear’s brawn he can take down anything that comes his way. Very fortunate to have him along.
Nathaniel Butler is a slacker. If he got his land-lubbing self out helping us find our way home maybe we actually could.
Pearlie, Oh he is a real softy, but do not make him angry, for if you do he’ll give you a REAL reason to wear an eye patch!
William Dampier is a man of his word. A great man of integrity. If he says not to do something, you don’t do it. For WIlliam has gone to school, he knows how to reason!
And Finally, there is Galileo. We only call him that because his real name is Leonardo, but he is in the Galley so much, we just added it to his name. Makes a wicked sea urchin stew.
Well that’s the remainder of the crew. The ship was made for forty, not seven. It get’s lonely on open waters.
