Mates,
I want to first thank all of the pirates who came out and attended this most recent running of the ETC's long-standing race tradition, the Survival Regatta.
We had 8 ships enter the contest this time and all vessels ran a pretty good race. And there was only 1 known casualty from enemy fire.
However, due to some misunderstanding of the rules and some disagreements regarding lap count - we had to declare this a no-contest with no winner. An offer was made to rerun the race, but the teams could not agree.
That said, I do want to compliment the crew of the Black Guardian for running one of the best and quickest race efforts ever. However, both their vessel and the runner-up Iron Rogue did not cross the finish line before porting back at Padres. So, they did not finish the race.
Two other vessels did not complete the race, due to lap miscount. We had three officials counting laps confirm this. Also, one vessel was witnessed cutting a corner on the 2nd lap and was disqualified. I am withholding the name.
Therefore, to those pirates who attended, please accept my apologies for the event ending on such a sour note. This race has been held nearly every month for almost two years without incident and I will make every effort to see that this will NOT occur again in the future.
