In my opinion you were in the right. I have been in the same place as you, asked them to simply leave because I had been there for an hour or more. Most people just say "no prob" or something to that effect, and leave. Others have some issue with that, and like to start problems. Yes, we all have the same right to be in the same places, but its just common courtesy if someone asks you politely to leave.
If I ever come to a place and someone asks me to leave I just go and change servers. Not too difficult to sail back. There are enough oceans/servers to go around.
As for defending a guildy, I would try to resolve the problem if it had to do with one of my other friends. But if they acted the way your friend did and just let them keep going off on me. Well... They wouldn't be a friend for long. Can't say I would defend my guildies in that situation, I have never had any of mine get complaints from friends.
Probly doesn't help your situation. Just my opinion.
