If that was one of my guildmates, I would also try to just find out who's the one who's being bothered and defend them- even if they are not in my guild. Some of my guildmates can be kinda annoying, but not enough for me to eject them. So, what I'm saying is that I agree with you 100%. And in my guild, it's not typical. My rules are treat everyone fair or get ejected.
