I happened to randomly have that sword... so I felt like using it. I have too many swords to choose from so I might as well rotate through what I use each day!
EDIT: almost forgot... it is also the only broadsword I own that has cursed thunder. I have a sabre with it... but a sabre isn't too good against multiple enemies.
