I don't think it's just a matter of knowing the words themselves. I know the words, and in the right situation I am perfectly happy to unleash them in streams that would make sailors and truckers blush; however, I don't think that contributes anything to the aesthetic of a persistent online world. It really just opens up local chat to young people learning to use the words unsupervised and in their proper contexts for the first time, and also people who only use an extremely limited vocabulary on a regular basis; I can't see either type of local chat increasing the enjoyment of the game for anyone else.
Personally, I could accept it just fine, but I would want to switch the normal condition to all local, non-speed chat being turned off, and manually switched on only for people whose text I want to see. I don't mind swearing, but I don't want to be treated to a continuous "low-brow serenade."
