I love my War Frigates (I have two). I like the speed of the sloops, but becuase I always play the game with my missus, I always have some sort of crew. I like the stop and fight option of the frigate.
The firepower of the War Galleon is awesome, but I always go out in my frigates.
All in all it is a personal choice and your own preferred tactics.
