Well, any story POTCO has had in mind originally is subject to change. Simply modified, not done away with necessarily altogether in other words.
That cursed hand we earn after defeating El Patron, for instance, can be intertwined with the quest to Barbecue the Beastie [Kraken]. I honestly like the idea that we pirates had a hand in killing Davy's pet as seen At World's End. That accomplishment can lead to many new enchanted weapons of greater power than these cursed ones we currently are using.
