This falls along the lines of creating a user based economy which I believe is not in the game for a reason, as most games with such economies, change the focus of the game from playing pirates and having fun, to he who has the most gold wins. In reference to anothers comment on the matter, it sounds to me like just trying to make the regular POTCO world "PVP". These are separate by design, and need to remain so.
That being said, Im against it....
It sounds neat to have stuff like that, but the reprecussions overall, take away from the overall game experience.
I think they need to put time and development into expanding the POTCO world, more quests, (another story quest chapter is desperately needed), PVP improvements, etc.
