Personally I think that the War Galleon is the best kind of ship, it is balanced out.
It has a good amount of guns, and great armor. That is my opinion, and it also depends on what you look for in a ship. If your looking for a fast ship with OK firepower go with the sloop.
Or if your looking for a ship with a lot of firepower go with the Frigate.
