Well, "Explosive" although doing the highest damage, it has very limited range, is limited to one shot at a time, and reloads terribly slow. If someone takes all factors into account explosive is one of the least effective of all the cannon ammos. It does pack a wallop in those close up fire fights though.
Fury is high damage, quick reload, 3 shots at a time, its the high end of the cannon ammo. I think Lightning only beats it in popularity because you get it before Fury, its easier to aim, and sounds real cool.
