Ok to BEST way to level up is get a crew try to get the max number of crew for the ship and go past Tortuga 'round the back of the island and stay steering the ship while the crew man the cannons and the best ones to level up is the the EITC ships and the Undead/Unsunken ships for the most gold and level ups, also the more the ship moves in battle like going around the enemy ship the more Sailing points you get!
WARNING!!:THE LEVEL 5 SHIPS DON'T LET YOU GO UP THE STAIRS TO THE WHEEL I TRIED IT WITH MY GALLEON AND I WENT THROUGH IN TO THE SHIP IN THE "GREY ZONE OF PIRATES" SO BEST TO STICK WITH THE THE LIGHT SLOOP, LIGHT GALLEON, AND LIGHT FRIGATE.
