Actually Bathrooms IN the house would be nasty - as with no running water sewage the whole reason for 'Outhouse' was so you didn't have the smell in the house
In fact - it took MANY years for the general populance to accept an indoor bathroom (late 1800's? I cant remember the Discovery Channel Program I was watching)
