I was "converted" to Country-anity back in the late 80's when I was lucky enough to attend the institution of higher learning located in College Station, Texas.

I went in a devotee of Def Leopard and those horrible hair bands.

Then I found out that all the pretty girls liked to go dancing on Thursday nights at bars that played country. Garth Brooks, George Strait, Randy Travis, Charlie Daniels, and even got to meet Alan Jackson when he was playing dance halls promoting "Blue Blooded woman and a red neck man".

Needless to say, I had an immediate and profound revelation (thanks in large part to a blond named Jenny) which has never gone away.

At my wedding we played "Forever and Ever", "Love can build a bridge", and even David Allen Coe's "Greatest Country and Western Song" (of course, that was a little later during the reception).
