No, what it allows is for either login, to access either accounts pirates, which the game play is then limited to the account on which the pirate resides abilities.
If the pirate is on an unlimited account, it plays as unlimited.
If the pirate is on a basic account, it plays as basic.
So if you login on basic account, you can switch to the linked unlimited account, and play one of its 4 pirates as unlimited. The 2 basic pirates on the basic account remain basic.
If you login on the unlimited account, you can access your 4 pirates as normal, and you can switch the basic account, and play either of the 2 basic pirates (as basic).
