Um, asking for help is one thing - asking the game be less clever or challenging is another. I'm sure lots of people had trouble finding Amelia. So what? The people that do go to the trouble of searching out every clothing store should get extra quests. If you don't notice Amelia, you miss out, for now. If you stumble across her later in your game - the quest is that much easier.
I mean, she had the lantern thing over her head. And it is kind of cool to find out late in the game, that there was a side quest you missed. Those that know about it can gently razz others that missed it.
On the other hand, maybe they could move Cuba up and right a bunch more, so that is is as close as Devil's Anvil to Port Royal and Tortuga - making that turn around Port Royal is SOOOOO hard to do. :-)
Ahem. Or maybe Big D could admit it was an error to "reduce travel time to Cuba" and slide Cuba back West where it belongs.
