Almost ANY green person will heal you - Gordon Greer being a really good example. The trick is, if you are at full health already, they say "I've got nothing for you." They will only talk to you and give you healing
if you are not at full health. 5gp for full healing is cheaper than tonics - and can be repeated a dozen times DURING your fight with that level 35 assassin.
A demonstration. On Outcast, there are two new NPCs. I got let a stump thwack me for a while then finish it off, then
run to Dog Lockgrim. Note that my health in the top left corner is all the way red. I then
talk to
him and I'm instantly all better. But once I do, I
can't talk to him anymore.
