More people tend to play at night because that's when people usually get home from work or finish homework, RL activites, etc, etc.
We have 10-15 people online more on weekends of course.
Consider PIC nocturnal if you want.
(And no, I don't know any other games pirate related other than Pirates of the Burning Sea.)
