I was having the exact same problem, and sent several bug reports about it, but didn't get a reply.
However, I have a family member with their own seperate beta key who I share this computer with who DID get a reply, and in it, it said;

In the email they also identified my graphic card and the date on my drivers. I upgraded my drivers at the NVIDIA website (for free) and now the map works perfectly. Yippee!!
I hope this info can help others.

It was not easy getting around without the map. Now I am teleporting all over the place just for the heck of it...lol.
