I am new to the forums, but not to beta testing online games. I am actually shocked that there is talk of it going live anytime soon. Do not mistake this as a bashing. There are many aspects of this game I am looking forward to once they are flushed out.
I do not have a high end PC anymore, but still can pull down constant 60fps in WOW, Guild Wars, DAoC, BF2 and CS:Source. (And looking at the rig from above wildtaz should have 0 issues with framerates). WoW in a battlefield with 60 plus folks going at in on the screen no less. The pipe or the hops should be a non-issue for well written net code, which appears to be the culprit. As argued further above, with only 60 or so folks on a night, spread across to game worlds, that shouldn't tax it a current high end system. I can run a 32 player BF2 server on my rig and DSL connection sans issues.
And since this all speculation, maybe the devs are coding on the server directly... Someday we will all run RAM Disks and Fiber to the house...
