I think your all overthinking
Actually Jack has it, but still made it harder than it had to be:
1, 3, 4 (16)
2, 6, 1 (18)
5, 2, 7 (28)
3, 4, 5 (?)
(1+3+4) * 2 = 16
(2+6+1) * 2 = 18
(5+2+7) * 2 = 28
(3+4+5) * 2 = 24
Why is the last number smaller? Who cares, thats not part of the puzzle as far as I could determine.
