Your pirate is still stored intact on the Disney servers.
Alas,
you will be locked out of any weapon higher than a voodoo doll and your skills will be capped at level 7 options (except for a few, where you can still access the additional skills on a doll by keying the number for that skill). Your ships will be capped at a light galleon; larger ships will still be there (able to be repaired, if you didn't before downgrading, and sold) waiting for you as well.
The number of quests you can do is severely limited and your Pearl quests are locked.
It's really not as bad as it sounds.
