Couldnt be Davy Jones, because he was in love with the goddess Calypso who gave him the task of taking care of those that died at sea so he could live forever, wanting to live forever, and love Calypso forever Davy Jones gave his heart to sail the seas as the keeper of its dead only being able to return to land once every 10 years. Upon his return 10 years later, Calypso his love, the reason for doing this, was not there to greet him, and he grew bitter, and stopped pursuing the tasks set forth for him. Because he failed to do these duties, he was cursed with the monstrous look we all know him by. Davy, now bitter, and confused became angry with Calypso and helped the pirate court to entrap her in her human form, Tia Dalma, taking the goddess Calypso from the sea.. and taking away her influence upon it.
Davy's story has some similarities, but the facts just dont match.
