The water that pushes against the sand (or currents) would eventually shift the sand along with the treasure making it hard or impossible to find.
Good thing POTCO doesn't have any dig spots close by the beach. I would love to see this in the game but there's always a possiblilty of theives.
However I would also like to see a bank system added in too.

I really meant for it to be an individual thing, at least at first. So, head to any dig spot and access your chest, just like you can head to any dinghy and access your ships.
