Current News: Jan 21, '09 Recruiting Pirates
Recruiting Pirates
January 21 2009 ![]() Making Friends for a Purpose The Marceline Guild recently uncovered a plot devised by the EITC to change the Caribbean forever ... It's more important than ever that Pirates stand together and work together to protect our way of life! Are you in a Crew? Have you joined a Guild? Join Captain Walter and his Crew on the docks of Port Royal this Friday, January 23 between 7 - 9 PM Pacific Time in the Barano Ocean. You will have the opportunity to learn more about Crewing and the opportunity to Crew with the GMs! You'll set out to sea with members of the Marceline Guild and help them sink EITC ships (to thwart their evil plans)! Meanwhile, obtain Crew Bonus to increase your Notoriety, boost your Cannon Skills, and earn major loot from the plunder obtained by sinking treasure-filled EITC ships. See you on the docks mate! Wow, that sounds cool. The overwhelming chatter on the beaches will be reduced to chummy talks of no more than 12 people? No voodoo staves blasting away? No siege charge to interrupt? Too bad they are only launching from Port Royal, but not from Ile d'Etable de Porc nor Isla De La Avaricia. :-)
And crew-matching! Hallelujah! So people can join late and still get on board? Kudos to someone at POTCO, for a fantastic idea. |

Umm
I'm just wondering whats in it for all us pirate masters who maxed out our gold and can't get a rep point to save our lives.
I'll sit this one out and let the little tikes get a thrill sailing with Walter. "QUOTE" "Meanwhile, obtain Crew Bonus to increase your Notoriety, boost your Cannon Skills, and earn major loot from the plunder obtained by sinking treasure-filled EITC ships" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

If there are only twelve GMs then I think this will be lag central.
If a crew can only hold 12 people then only 144 people can go with the GMS. Only 500 can be in their guild. I wonder how this event is going to go. I'm going to get there as early as possible. I wonder if their ships are any different than ours. |

YaaaHooooo
Wooohooo,.. sounds like fun,.. another chance to shoot em up with many different Pirates and our GM's and Drink Rum til we can't see strait!!
(or at least crooked shootin er something) Any opportunity to get with so many a Pirate Brethren sounds like fun!! Perhaps the Captain will do some Ship Racing while we're all at it? ![]() If the Lag does become a powerful issue, with several GM's partaking, dividing to various servers may be a option? Quote:

Recommendation: Those already having some contact with the GMs, should be leaders in the community, and let those that are not as blessed with such opportunities to interact with the GMs instead. Besides if the GMs keep rubbing elbows with all the same people, they are not getting a full range of input on the game, which is inevitably part of their intention in these events. |

Read the entire thing! "Are you in a crew? Are you in a guild?" This event IS NOT for virtually ANY of you/us that are posting here! This is to get noobs more involved, and not have them just standing around on Abassa, wondering what to do next. All of you who are posting about how much fun this is gonna be, you are all senior players. You should not / do not need to be taught how to crew or guild. You shouldn't need help aquiring cannon reps or gold. If I were one of the GM's, I wouldn't crew or sail with anyone over level 12, or a founder, or anyone who immediately starts asking about what's going to come out 'new'. Obviously, those pirates already know all the stuff that this event is about. As Zep states in his recommendation above: Let those who haven't had the opportunities interact with the GM's instead! EDIT: I don't know why Disney doesn't actually have someone , a GM, standing at the end of the pier on Abassa, and give advice to "NEW" players. Especially regarding making friends, joining a guild, using chat, etc. These are items that aren't immediatley obvious to the new player, and would enhance the entire gaming experience.

Anytime I got in the event my internet connection broke.
Obviously they should work on getting better servers. |

12 War frigates with full crews, spread out on the oceans of one quiet server, won't cause any noticeable lag. It's not uncommon to see a half dozen pirate ships, just in Mariner's Reef or Boiling Bay. Now if they all launch from the same place at the exact same time...then maybe a few moments of slowness (until they disperse.)

The thought just occurred to me so that means everyone else already must have had this thought long ago, what if a mean spirited crew of pirates sailed out and sunk all the ships around the GM ships. Whats to stop some idiot from spoiling this event? In fact, whats to stop 8-10 idiots from ramming, flaming and otherwise harassing the GM's ships?
