Help with game start

Okay,
This is what's happening. We are able to log in from the web site, the application link on my desktop doesnt do anything. After logging in when I click "PLAY", the next page says "installing Pitrates Online" and then the IE7 window is minimized and the page goes to the "Thanks For Playing" with a link to Pirates Online. I have done pretty much everything I seen suggested to ge this to play (uninstalling/reinstalling, adding ports, even turned off windows firewall). Turning off windows firewall was how I got the "play"link to work from the web site. I was able to get everything going with just dial-up and an accelerator, but the game installation kept getting messed up when the dial-up closed. I'd really like to use the DSL but I just cant get things to work right.

Any suggestions, I've tried reading the forum but I dont see anything.
