Voodoo staff V.S Voodoo doll. What is best.

Just tell me in your opinion what is better and why, the staff or the doll.

i think the doll is versus the staff. the doll u just click and run and heal ur self by sucking the life out of ppl. the staff u kill ppl by hurting urself. that ain't right

Good question. I think the staff is the best weapon in the game but the doll is a very close second. I like the doll because of the healing facets while it is still a weapon but the staff is much more explosive and quicker. I don't c how u kill ppl by hurting urself unless u use the desolation which is good for one point at the very best bcause its only use is the "awe" factor.

Just my opinion. The best thing about both of them and my third favorite weapon, the cutlass, is you never have to purchase ammo.

I don't think of either weapon as particularly "piratey." But then, they have a (not-very-piratey) short sword also in the game, under the moniker "dagger." There are also "grenades" which don't have any historic excuse for being in the game at all. The undead themselves, don't exist outside of the game and the movies...pretty weird. Accepting those lapses...

Staff or doll? Staff has wither - pretty fantastic for gameplay. Wither (*) and sweep (cutlass) are the only magical attacks that get every enemy nearby. (Attempting that sort of a sweep with a real cutlass is a ******* move that only annoys attackers, by the way.) On the other hand, the voodoo doll has life-drain - also pretty fantastic for gameplay.

Wither has saved my pirate much more often than life-drain. But every time wither did fall short, it was always life-drain that saved him a trip to jail. So, doll wins, overall. :-(

(*) Yes, I'm ignoring desolation. It is for show, only. And very, very silly.

In my personal opinion, i enjoy the staff only by a fraction better than the doll. This is due to the fact that:

1: The staff has the most powerful attacks in the game ( but only if you know where to put all of those points, like I put 5 skill points in flaming skull, which is now my favorite attack)
2: You can't be called cheap if you use the staff in PvP, unlike the doll.
3: There is a skill on the staff that not only increases staff power, but doll power too.
4: With the doll, you have to run up to an enemy about a few levels higher than you, which will give it enough time in order for it to land a few attacks on you (which might end up fatal).
With the staff, you can attack your enemy from a distance with great force behind the spells, which could give you an advantage over your enemy.

Staff is not the most powerfull weapon i have flaming skull maxed and spirit mastery maxed too and i have siege and barrage maxed my flaming skull does about 1400-1600 how ever my siege does about 1500-2000 so yea staff isnt the most powerfull weapon

I prefer the doll... reasons? ill tell you:

1. It doesnt hurt you

2. you can heal people

3. you can suck life out of low lvl enemies and get like +300

4. it can get you +40 voodoo if you max out... focus is it?

5. you can use grave shackles to keep someone in place... good in pvp

Mistake #1, dolls are a way to get some people really angry in PvP, although, outside of PvP, I don't mind them all that much.

This is another "it all depends" situation. I'm not going to board a high level flag ship and pull out the doll unless I plan on doing the chicken run. It's Flame or Wither all the way for that scenario. However, after getting pummeled and losing health you bet I'm switching to doll to chain n drain and probably start the chicken run anyway. This is typically when I'm alone or the crew have all been wiped out with 30+ lvl soldiers on board.

I'd have to say I use both the staff and doll equally. You cannot heal with the staff, but you can't do major devastation in a short time frame with the doll. Sure you can attune up to 5 enemies....but by the time you do that you've already taken a beating.

Indisputable (only covering what I use most):

Staff

-Soul Flay works decent when you are low on voodoo
-Pestilence not too shabby (does not use much voodoo)
-Wither rocks
-Flame kicks major booty
-Desolation...lets not go there in this thread as I have mixed feelings

Doll

-Poke not much damage but does not use much voodoo and recharges quickly
-Swarm does nice damage
-Heal is very useful
-Chains come in handy when running away or needing to distance yourself
-Life drain rocks (literally takes enemies health and transfers to your health)

ever thought of 5 poinst in desolation? that would be stronger considering at 1 point it does about 1300 lol but it takes almost 70% of your life
so iI dont think 5 points in seige charge can beat 5 points in desolation.
but I think the staff is he most destructive weapon becasue if you see a huge mob of angry veterans runing at you. YOu want to just kill them all right?well just pull out staff and flaming skull them. And since the update they had on daggers doll is now much weaker(asp and throw dirt shater all your attunements which can get irritating in pvp)
so i think staff is the best.

You call that irritating? It's the best update for pvp ever. This way it doesn't turn into a who-can-attune-who-first-match

Anyway, I prefer to use doll because you can avoid taking damage and you are less likely to run out of voodoo.

Now here is something that I can fight against, seeing as your second point can too be cheap as well...

Many glitchers used to load their staff before battle, setting it off while they were running, this would leave my P'd off, and I'd leave the arena.

Not to mention, if you can't use anything but a doll, you are just sad, there's no pride in winning a PvP even using a doll once...

I tell you one thing, there was one time I was using my level 19 with level 12 dagger and 10 cutlass. I was challenged by a level 32 to PvP, he murdered me with his doll. But I went back and challenged him to a battle without dols, well actually voodoo, but apparently he thought I said doll since he pulled the staff out after I told him not too. Amazingly, he couldn't kill me once, and of course I couldn't kill him, but did you expect it? Of course not, the guy was cheap, nothing more to it.

I think when it all comes down to it, I personally like the voodoo doll better because it has the most helpful skills.

Life drain- to heal yourself
Shackles- Holds down enemy
Heal- to heal your friends

As much as I love the staff for its damage, it also can take a while to charge resulting in damage yo your own HP. Also, the staff can't heal in which case it is not as useful as the voodoo doll. I have to admit though, it's a close cut between the two.

I know, I have face jumpers like me in pvp and some of them still use doll to life drain, curse, and use chains.

They aren't much better than those people that run around in circles.
