Yep Well almost, there is at least one very handy tool out there that make the process simpler

Phase1.pyd holds a copy of the game code as does phase_1.mf (Among other stuff, dll's and the like). The two copies are compared at runtime by Launcher.exe (as well as it checking BD5 checksum values) to ensure that they are the same, I assume to reduce simple hacking of the client.
